PreSchool

 

The Thomson First United Methodist Church Preschool is open to two-, three- and four-year-old children whose parents seek for them the finest in education and creative play activities.

 

All classes are held from 9:00 AM until 12:00 noon.  The class schedule by class age is as follows:

 

Two-year-olds -- Tuesday & Thursday

Three-year-olds -- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday

Four-year-olds -- Monday-Friday 

 

Children must be two, three or four by September 1st to be enrolled in their respective age group. The preschool program will follow the same schedule as the McDuffie County School System with regard to holidays and snow days. A recognition service will be held at the end of the school year for all of our preschoolers.

 

Learning activities are individualized with an appropriate program of developmental skills and concepts. Classes are kept small so that each child may be given individual attention. Opportunities for wonder, exploration and discovery are provided. Through these activities the children learn to solve problems and to express ideas. Field trip experiences for three and four year olds enrich the curriculum as do hands-on experiences.

 

Singing, rhythm instruments and music appreciation challenge the musical interests of the children. Art media experiences include painting, finger painting, clay, play dough, crayon, and special craft activities. The child's creative abilities are encouraged.

 

Outdoor play provides a setting for creative play and large muscle activities. Indoors, the children have time for imaginative social play, blocks, make-believe, puzzles and stimulating manipulative and building equipment.

 

Our program is designed and implemented so that your child will learn essential skills.  We provide experiences through which he or she can learn and grow physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and socially. We strive to provide a positive experience of school for our children, and a strong foundation for their future educational success.
